We had record rainstorms here in the Chicago area over the weekend. 7 or 8 inches fell in one 24 period, most of it Friday night. We broke current records by more than double.I just read this article…Continue

Six years ago tonight, my mom adopted me! She came to the shelter where I was staying and took me home with her, and I've been here ever since!
It took her three days to decide to adopt me. The first day she met me, she wasn't sure she…

I don't get it.
We have some wonderful, adorable dogs who have been with us in foster care for weeks, and nobody is applying for them or even inquiring about them. Sweet, adorable adult dogs who are already housebroken and are past the chewing, nipping, sock-eating crazy puppy stage. (You know that stage between 6 and 12 months when the people who got puppies without having a clue what that entails in terms of time, work, commitment, etc. give them up to rescues?)
Day after…

Thanks for letting me know - I just read your adoption policies tonight before I came across your comment on my page. ;) Though I do have young children, they do have some good experience with dogs and are wonderful with them, but I understand the rationale behind the policies. Any dog we adopt will certainly have therapeutic value for all of us (:P), but I would not be interested in pure service training for my special needs daughter, just perhaps training as a therapy dog to share with the special needs groups we are involved in. :) If any of this alters the possibility of our family adopting a doodle, please let us know! Regardless, I am very happy to know that a collective like this exists that truly cares about the animals. You all are doing a wonderful job and I am sure there are hundreds of families out there (and especially doggies) who very happy and loved because of your hard work. :) Take care! ;)
Thank you Karen, I appreciate that bunches... take care~
Dear Karen and Jack,
This is Deborah James from Ft, Worth Tx and I had first sent my application in on 9-20-11. I was then notified it was recieved and in the reviewing process. You told me to email :adoptions@doodlerescuecollective..... but you did not say wether to include the inc,org on the end. I have seen TX - Tess and I would like to know where my app, is at in all of this, If you could email me back and let me know if I add the inc,org to the end of that so I can get an email off to them I would Love it! Not too many doodles come to TX for adoption and it seems as soon as they get here they are gone. Thanks for understanding.
We are so excited about adding her to our family! Our 11 year old son has already claimed her for his bed at night (his older brother sleeps with our English Setter- so it's fair!). We also are excited to introduce Callie to our Petey- he LOVES all people and dogs and will be so happy to have a new friend after the death of our Daisy (Jack Russel/Lab mix). Petey adored her, and has been a little lost the past months. And, as Daisy aged, she played with Petey less and less. He will be so happy to have another playmate that doesn't go home after a few hours!!
We are getting ready for Callie's introduction- We have a new non-negotiable house rule "NO socks on the floor". We're planning to have my brother meet us on neutral territory (the park probably) with Petey just to aleviate any problems with territory in the beginning (Petey has never cared at all before, but you never know), and we will notify our vet and make an appointment for Callie right away.
Hopefully, we will be picking her up at the end of next week. : )
Thanks for all you do for these dogs. We feel blessed that special people like you and Tina take the time and effort to find families for our specail friends.
Thank you so much.
